Like many men, I went online. I researched endlessly. I read about needles and about where the instruments go. I read about pain. And my anxiety increased.
My urologist prescribed sedatives for me to take before the procedure. That helped.
The biopsy itself was uncomfortable, but manageable. It was brief. Around ten minutes.
The beforehand fear was worse than the procedure.
After the biopsy my prostate swelled and blocked my urine flow. I had to have a catheter for 72 hours until the swelling went down. It wasn't pleasant. But it was temporary. And it resolved.
With a PSA of 92, I now knew something significant was going on. But what? I just wanted answers.
